Allen is amazing. He's shot everyone from Tom Brokaw to George H. Bush to Ludacris to Dave Matthews and a lot more.

We're very much looking forward to releasing some of these new songs and of course getting to play with some great friends in our hometown of Pittsburgh.

We'll see you soon.

the time (zones) are a changin'

Allen Clark / www.allenclarkphotography.com

sorry for the lack of updates here on our page, we've been going through quite a transitional phase.

As we've stated in previous posts we have relocated to Nashville, TN.  It's been about a month now and so far we are really loving it, sharing a house and working on songs everyday.  Unfortunately two of our founding members, Matt Gray (drums) & Rich Condon (bass), were not able to make the move with us.  Both have a lot going on in Pittsburgh and to uproot 500 miles south just wasn't feasible for them, we wish them the best and thank them for the time they spent with the band.

Enter Wes Cramer.  Wes is one of Dylan's life long best friends and probably one of the happiest people you'll ever meet, he has assumed drumming duties & is a terrific housemate.  We've auditioned a few bassists over the past few weeks and have found one that suits us quite well but we're still in beta testing stage with him, going to play a few shows and see how it goes.

Upcoming shows:

10/13 - Nashville, TN
The Basement
21+ 9PM

10/18 - Nashville, TN
Mercy Lounge
BMI's 8 off of 8th Spooktacular
9PM/FREE/21+

11/16 - Nashville, TN
5 Spot
8 PM/$2/21+

12/23 - Pittsburgh, PA
The Rex Theater
Christmas Eve-Eve party
All Ages/$10
More details soon!

12/30 - Pittsburgh, PA
Thunderbird Cafe w/ Meeting Of Important People
New Years Eve-Eve party
21+/$10

Our producer, Buddy Hall, is heading down to Tennessee in the second week of October and we are going to begin production on our 3rd album.  We are obviously very excited about this, both seeing him and getting to record a bunch of new songs.

I suppose that'll do pig, for now.  Check back soon for some live videos of new songs and updated show listings.

Hello hello.  Jesse checking in from east nashville.  I haven't really ever been much of a blogger so please be gentle, I trust you will.  Tonight (wednesday 8/25) marks one week of me being a nashville resident...(see futon crasher).  So far I am in love with this place and have been very fortunate to meet some incredible people already.  I was given my first nickname the other night, "The Rabbi", by a dude who is known as "The Jam"..still not sure how I feel about my 1st nickname but I'll let it ride for now.  I've been staying with my good friend Tiff at her house in east nashville.  The two of us are on dog sitting duty for her boyfriend Jeremy Lister's bloodhound named Virgil while Jeremy competes in the NBC reality show in LA called The Sing Off.   Virgil walks around grunting and moaning all day and it's adorable.  He also likes water more than I've ever seen a thing like water.  I hope you're following all or at least most of these links.

Today I looked at a great house around these parts and I think we're going to make it the official Bear Cub Den.  It's a large 1950's ranch home on a fairly secluded nice chunk of land in a great part of town where we can practice, maul, and practice mauling.  I've been having a great time since arriving but miss the other guys everyday.  I think it's going to be a very productive party once we're all here.  I think the chiggers got me, pop.

Like I said, I'm not much of a blogger.  Let's not make it this whole thing.  I said slow.

I just wanted to say hello to anyone that comes to our website and give ya a quick update.  Chuck did such a damn fine job on the last one and I've accepted that I can't top it so please excuse the brevity of this, my first blog.

We're going to start working on one or two Pittsburgh shows sometime around christmas, perhaps try our hand at an all-ages show.  More updates to come soon.

We will miss Pittsburgh dearly...

Bear Cub "Always Be Down" EP on iTunes now!

Thank you Pittsburgh, for being a beautiful city full of wonderful people.  We are and always will be Pittsburgh boys.  As we venture south to Nashville we will keep Pittsburgh and all of its elements deep inside ourselves.  This band has been so fortunate to meet and know so many great people in such a short period of time.  From our great friends at Thunderbird Cafe, who have supported us in every way imaginable, to the sweet, sweet musicians who make up Acousticafe.  Anyone who has ever come out to one of our shows, or got drunk with us afterwards.  Its because of all of you, your kindness and your support, that we feel so confident in this band and the future.  You have filled all of us with an amazing energy that cannot even begin to be put into words.  It is a shared energy between Bear Cub and everyone in the room when we play.  Hearing many of you sing the songs back to us has been indescribable.  Thank you!
We can only hope that the energy that you have all surrounded us with will follow us to Nashville and continue to grow from there.
Friday's show at the Thunderbird was amazing.  We hope you enjoyed the night as much as we did.  Thank you to everyone who came out or told a friend about the show and dragged them to it.  It blew our minds how many people showed up.  You can find a review of the show here.  And last night's antics at Club Cafe were also sweet.  Pictures are available here and a video of "She Sold Me Shoes" featuring Buddy Hall is here.  Buddy produces everything you have heard from Bear Cub and is pretty much a founding member.  He is like papa bear.  It was a very fitting end to the first chapter of Bear Cub.  The evening was spent with good friends and amazing musicians.  I had no idea where i was when I woke up in a damp basement in the southside.  Thanks for the good times!
Jesse is currently en route to Nashville and the band will be following close behind.  Right now we have no shows booked as we are all in the process of packing up, moving and finding the right place to call home.  We are planning to play a string of homecoming shows in Pittsburgh right around Christmas time.  We are also excited to play some more all-ages shows when we return.  Little kids need music too, so we will be working on booking a show or two in one of the many Pittsburgh public schools.  That will be a blast...  If you are interested in helping us book something like that please email us @ bearcubclub@gmail.com
But so much can happen between now and then, and that's why you have to keep coming back here to our website to check in on us.

www.bearcubclub.com
We will be updating often.

If you haven't already, become our friend on facebook and if you feel so inclined, "like" us.  Go there now to hear a brand new Bear Cub song titled, "Hey B", not released on either of the two records.  On that page you will also find our new EP "Always Be Down" streaming in its entirety.  You can get the new record and the first record on iTunes right now!  Do it!  The hard copy of the full-length is also still available in Pittsburgh at Dave's Music Mine in the South Side, Pauls CDs in Bloomfield as well as The Slipped Disc in Oakland.  Go support your local record store.  Hope you enjoy the new stuff, and we will be seeing you soon.  We love you Pittsburgh!  We will miss you dearly...

Thanks
Bear Cub

New Website Launch

Welcome to your nightmare. We are launching our website, iTunes, Tunecore.com, and a blog at the same time. things are going to get ugly. With our move to Nashville, we needed to get some social mediums in order. So check back since this site will be updated often. Our next show is at Thuderbird Café in Lawrenceville on August 13th. that's right, Friday the 13th. This will be our last show in Pittsburgh before the move, so come out and support! I'm sure we'll be back to visit and play, but we'll be setting up shop down south for a while. Anyway, feel free to hit this site as much as you want. There will be all kinds of fun things going on, and you can keep up with our antics in the south.
